Hi everyone. As you've seen, the songs here are all compositions of the Genesis band, which Steve Hackett has revisited in his own way. I voluntarily removed, the personal titles of Steve that one finds on the original albums "Genesis Revisited, I, II and Selection". I chose to also remove the song "Déjà Vu" created by Peter Gabriel in 1973 during the sessions "Selling England by the Pound", and completed by SH in 1996 for the Genesis Revisited I. Bonne écoute, R&UT

@pascal martel When they were recording 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway', Peter Gabriel's wife gave birth to their first child; there was a problem with the birth (an infected epidural I think) and both his wife and the baby were seriously ill to the extent that their lives were in danger. Peter's wife was in hospital in London, the band were recording the album in Wales. Peter wanted to spend as much time with his wife and child as possible, but Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford in particular felt that he should put the band first and gave him a hard time about it, in their own words they gave him "no support whatsoever". You can hear all of them talk about this on the interviews about the Lamb that they did for the Genesis box set a few years ago; these interviews are on YouTube. This wasn't the only reason for Peter leaving, he might well have left after the Lamb anyway, but you can tell from the interview that Peter still feels bad about it, and also that, while they acknowledge their lack of support, Tony and Mike still don't seem all that contrite. I have a lot of respect for Tony Banks as a musician, less so for Mike Rutherford because he is nothing special at all, but neither of them come across as the nicest people you are likely to meet. Steve Hackett, on the other hand, does and is.

Wow I was listening to this for the first time - Right when I was going to sleep and it was such a spiritual experience - I woke up enough to sing along to all the tracks as they played through broadway melody 1974 , Nads vocals on Chamber of 32 doors is fantastic , Supers Ready 10 stars excellent version - such clarity - I thought abt my late wife while listening to this version - its good to feel you again. Steves guitar playing on this is stellar - love his tapping and I still say Roger King is the prog keyboard player of the last 20 years and all the vocalist do an excellent job on this, I have been a Steve Hackett fan since I first heard Fox Trot in 1973 and I saw Genesis in 1974 and 75 I am just now hearing this release and what an awesome offering it is. Brilliant! I have been a Genesis and Steve Hackett fan since 1976. The combination of both I & II Genesis Revisited here is a treat. Oh, and that is Steve Hackett on vocals on “ I Know What I Like” Lol! The songs are well-redone...in tune and with modern engineering of course. The tunes are also TIMELESS, crossing over generations. My 27 year old daughter joined me to see- hear Steve Hackett performing this material live a couple of years ago. Amazed at the musical spectacle, she bought- downloaded much of what we heard that evening on a listening device later at home. What a memorable time we had!

Always loved Peter as the frontman and Phil ( on drums and backing vocals) Listen to this 3or4 times and although some tunes are stronger than others , I like all the different interpretations of all the songs .. Hackett is phenomenal no matter what when and where .. Really enjoyed Dance on a volcano .. very interesting take on it .. But honestly ... great to hear others involved

Excellent stuff though I miss «The Knife» and «Get'Em Out By Friday». «The Knife» was recorded before Steve Hackett entered the band but I've checked setlist.fm and he performed it several times which seems natural because when he was in the band «The Knife» was a regular piece of the setlist. I'm sure he is comfortable with it.

First listen and I haven’t played Supper’s Ready yet. The winners: lovely new start to Blood on the rooftops, gobsmacking orchestral arrangement on For absent friends - a minor album filler turned into a serious piece of music with beautiful vocals from Colin Bluntstone. Ha ha, Steve has completely dismantled Rutherford’s long and dreary Your own special way and turned it into an 80’s sure fire hit with non other than The Mechanics Carrick on vocals - genius. Watcher of the skies has been brought right up to date with a hint of trance and no Sunday school organs. I like what he’s done with Fountains and though worried about Steve’s singing, he’s been pretty true to Gabriel on this one. Can-Utility is one of the true great prog songs and Ray, of course, does it full justice. The losers; Ripples and Dance on a volcano are far better sung by Phil. The Steely Dan version of I know what i like is horrible. The classics have been treated well: I love the new clarity on Lamia but not sure that the end of Moonlit Knight is as good as the original.

Too bad you removed any songs. Should have left it the way Steve made it. Genesis had 5 amazing musicians in the years 71 - 77, but only one musical virtuoso and genius. His name? Steve Hackett of course. Listen to his albums since then. His music silences almost all other rock music and that during almost 50 years. He is a walking one man Hall of Rocking Fame. No rock musician can compare to him - except perhaps Lennon-McCartney, but they were with the two of them. He is a class of his own.

Genesis is my favorite band of all time and Steve Hackett one of my favorite guitarist too.. Steve, you made beautiful music in the 70's so why rehash old songs? I know you have it in you, create beautiful songs now ... new songs 😍😍💝💝💝

Been a big fan from day one album one until and including 3 sides live .... after that blah ... that’s when Phil was been Phil and Genesis was being Phil ...

Yep. Genesis were fine until after Trick of the Tail. I'm not bothered about Peter Gabriel's leaving but when Steve Hackett left and after Trick of the Tail, they sold out. I was 15 when my older brother introduced me to the music of Genesis. My husband Peter saw Genesis in 1975. Sally

«Supper's Ready» with all the different singers is a great surprise. When the original material is already perfect is quite hard to do something as good as this.

I hope those who listen to this for free on YouTube are inspired to buy his albums (if not already owning). Seen him a few times over the last 40 years and amazed at the output and energy for a guy in his fifth (or is it sixth?) decade of performing. Here, I'll make it easy - https://store.hackettsongs.com P.S Blood on the Rofftops?? I must go and check my LP...

From stem to stern, sounds GREAT to me. Everything is well played. Can't sound like the original, and it shouldn't. But I don't have any issues with any of what I've heard. It's not like people are spitting up or missing notes. lol

Behold! Is that Phil Collins son, Simon breaking in on vocals at 16:50 ? ... Yes! Lol. A slight vocal resemblance? I think so...( family genes) not the sonic resonance of Dad’s voice, but certainly he’s able to hit the high notes clearly.
